They appear again when Claire reaches the snowy area, with Alex standing at the top of the cliff and Tim climbing. However, Tim gets scared and has a breakdown mid-climb. Alex attempts to soothe his fears but tells Claire to go on ahead while Tim shakily gathers his confidence to finish the climb.
If you stand on Tim's head while he is climbing, he will shout at Claire that she isn't helping.
After a while, you can find the two resting with the polar bear after finally reaching the top of the cliff. They never actually reach Hawk Peak within the game, but Alex asks Claire to show them the way up 'the following day' (after the game has ended).

They appear again near the summit, where a bridge before them has collapsed and they are unable to continue further. They mention their lack of feathers and the possibility of there being another path up on the dark side of the mountain. Claire agrees to look as she climbs up, and to come back for them if she reaches the summit. Should she do so, Claire can offer to give them six feathers to make it to the top, but the fox will only accept if Claire has at least twelve feathers. The fox will then climb up the mountain and wait at the summit. When Claire returns to the summit and speaks to the fox, they marvel at the view and offer to take Claire's photo. They give Claire a walkie talkie, allowing Claire to call them and start/restart/abandon a race, regardless of their locations.
The player can race with Avery on any of the three routes, and when the player beats Avery at each course once, this unlocks an achievement and Avery will give Claire a medal when the player completes the last race, you can get this medal without beating the first two races.

The propeller can be fixed by interacting with the ship worker. After that, the kid will challenge Claire to another racing course, with a Golden Feather as a prize if completed within 2 minutes.
